Biography:
Livia Romano (Foglia), 82, of Yonkers, passed on March 9, 2024. Livia was born on September 11, 1941 to Domenico Foglia and Rosa Marra in Serino Province of Avellino, Italy. Livia and her husband Angelo immigrated to the U.S. In 1969. Livia was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. Most of her life in both Italy and America she made her living as a seamstress. Livia found joy in many things. A big part of her joy stemmed from being with her family. Livia loved family very much, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She was most happy in her kitchen being able to cook for her family. She took pride in her Italian roots and enjoyed jarring her own tomato sauce which was used to make her delicious meals for her family. She also had a quite the green thumb and spent a good amount of time in her garden harvesting loads of tomatoes and zucchini. If you showed up to her home and weren`t able to find her inside the next place you`d look would be her garden. Most summer days she could be found outside with a cup of coffee and spending time with her friends. Livia and her husband Angelo had three children; Nunzia (Nancy husband Angelo Rocchio), Giosue (Josh wife Angie Tellone) and Angelo G (wife Mariaelena Calcagni). Livia had six grandchildren Anthony and Christopher Rocchio, Maria Rocchio Dugan (husband Jordan Dugan) (Nancy); Alfonso and Dominic Romano (Josh) and Nicholas Romano (Angelo G) and a great granddaughter Olivia Dugan. Livia is predeceased by her husband, Angelo Romano. Arrangements entrusted to FLOWER FUNERAL HOME INC., 714 Yonkers Avenue, Yonkers, with visitation Thursday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass Friday 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Church with an entombment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. www.Flowerfh.com

Frank Falcone:
My deepest condolences to Livia’s family and friends. She was a truly lovely woman with a very big heart. I am going to miss that big smile of hers and our talks in her kitchen and out on the porch sipping coffee. Rest in peace Livia.

Nermina Djokaj:
Livia was a great neighbor. She was witty and funny, yet she showed love and compassion towards me and my family. It was a great pleasure and comfort to see her after my long day at work. Most of the time she was there greeting me especially on spring and summer days. We’d share our troubles and she always knew how to bring a smile to my face. I will truly miss her! May God bless her and May she rest in peace. Love, Nermina

Maria Dugan:
The best nonna a girl could ask for. Will miss her with all of my heart forever.

Cara amica, dopo 50 anni di amicizia, mi mancherai tantissimo. Riposa in pace cara Livia.

Imma Carletto:
Livia thank you for being best friend to my mother Maria for over 50 years. We will miss you deeply. May you forever rest in peace and continue to watch over your family.

Angelo G. Romano:
Ma, We will miss you, and even though we are sad you left this world, I know you are in a better place. As I sit in the kitchen and have coffee, I reminisce about you and our times together—the love, laughter, and, of course, the yelling. The aroma of Sunday dinners and your singing while cooking will everlastingly stay in my mind. I think back to your visits to see us in North Carolina and not wanting to wear your hearing aid to the blasting loud television with Chicago PD or the Food Network (“saying I can maka’ that”). You always cared for us all, and while we may have sometimes disagreed, you were usually right even though some hard-heads may not agree. I will forever love and miss you. Your son. Angelo
